About
Bellewood Baptist Church, Syracuse
It was early summer in 1971. Residents of the Villages of Cicero and North Syracuse received an unassuming brochure inviting them to attend the "Cicero Bible Fellowship", to be held in the home of Bob and Betty Taylor each Wednesday evening.During the first year the Bible fellowship ministered to 30 people in eight families and had purchased a two-story cobblestone house at 445 Church Street in North Syracuse. The fellowship named this new place of worship and Bible study "Bellewood Baptist Church". The first worship service was held in the newly acquired facility on June 25, 1972 under the sponsorship of Central Baptist Church of Syracuse. The fellowship was constituted and incorporated as church on June 30, 1974.Bellewood expanded it's original facility by adding a sanctuary May 1979. Long range site planning has been approved to enable the church to optimize it's two acre property by providing future education, worship and parking for 250 people
